Hi, I’m Florin Lazar, and I’m glad to welcome you to this space! This is my first blog post. I hope it will be one of many. Before diving into specific topics, let me tell you why I created this blog and website.
Why This Blog Exists
I built this platform to explore ideas, answer burning questions, and share what I learned over the years. With over a decade of experience in startups, and four years serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO) across multiple startups (some of which I co-founded), I’ve learned two things about what startups get right and what they often get wrong:
1. Startups Often Struggle with Operations
In the early days, a startup’s top priorities are growth-focused: acquiring customers, generating revenue, building a product, and scaling fast. Operations usually take a backseat.
While that’s understandable, neglecting operations can lead to chaos. As startups grow, fixing poorly implemented processes becomes exponentially harder. A solid operational foundation may not be a priority on day one, but it’s critical for long-term success.
2. Startups Rarely Have the Budget for a COO
Most startups are in survival mode, focusing on validating their ideas, building their products, and attracting funding or achieving cash flow positivity. In these conditions, hiring a full-time COO feels like a luxury.
But here’s the thing: if you’re not making plans at least 12 months ahead, you likely don’t need a full-time COO yet. And honestly, how many startups have the confidence to plan that far into the future? Not many.
How This Blog and My Services Can Help
This blog and the services I offer are designed to help startups reach the stage where they need a full-time COO. That stage typically comes when your business is well-funded, generating consistent revenue, or has a solid runway.
Therefore, I aim to bridge the gap: helping startups build strong operational frameworks, improve processes, and implement scalable systems.
If this is interesting for you, I hope to see you around. Have a nice day!
